The Millennium Development Goals

September of 2000 brought the largest gathering of world leaders in history to the Millennium Summit where the United Nation’s Millennium Declaration was adopted, and leaders pledged their countries involvement to the new global alliance combating extreme poverty.

This gathering of leaders, and pledge of their nations, gave birth to what has become known as the Millennium Development Goals (MDG), which are a series of time bound, quantified, targets that are to be achieved by 2015.

The eight goals provide an essential foundation for furthering the development of our globe, and, if followed through on, will transform countless lives for the better.
